Navigating your Perfect 2026 World Cup Journey in Los Angeles

As World Cup fans pour into Los Angeles for one of the world’s most anticipated sporting events in 2026, visitors will quickly discover that navigating the city requires a game plan of its own. Known for its sprawling layout, diverse neighborhoods and unique tourist attractions, fans and visitors should prepare in advance to ensure a smooth experience in their Los Angeles World Cup journey.

Multiple Gateways into the City

Most international fans are expected to arrive through Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), one of the busiest and most globally connected airports in the United States. While others may arrive via Union Station (Railway) or by driving in with their own vehicles. Even though Los Angeles is undeniably a car‑centric city, visitors can still find various transportation options that make travelling within the city manageable even without getting behind the wheel.

The Los Angeles Metro bus system is extensive and affordable covering the city and beyond with over 200 lines. It features three main types:

Metro Local Buses (orange), making frequent stops at major districts and tourist attractions.

Metro Rapid Buses (red), offering faster express service with fewer stops, ideal for saving time on busy routes.

Metro Express Buses (blue), primarily for commuters linking Downtown Los Angeles to other business districts via freeways.

Complementing these are DASH buses, they are small shuttles operated by the LA Department of Transportation across 33 routes, often connecting with Metro Rail and Bus lines.

The Metro Rail system also provides efficient subway and light-rail options, both running across the different major areas in the city:

B Line (most tourist-friendly) runs from Union Station through Hollywood to North Hollywood and Universal City.

D Line serves Downtown to Westlake and Koreatown, with extensions toward Miracle Mile, Beverly Hills, and Westwood opening in phases starting early 2026.

A Line (light-rail) links Long Beach to Azusa/Pasadena via Downtown.

E Line connects Santa Monica, Culver City, USC, and East LA.

C Line serves the Norwalk to Redondo Beach areas.

It is highly recommended to use the MTA Trip Planner for routes and times to navigate easily to different top attractions, together with a reusable TAP card for seamless travel across buses and trains (loadable at stations).
